Raspberry woes...

Any ideas what's wrong with my raspberries?

Joan J, bought from K3n Mu1r, heeled in on receipt and planted out in loam in the lea of the hedge last year. Lovely soil, not waterlogged.

They cropped lightly that autumn, then I cut down the canes early this season. I weeded and mulched them a couple of months ago (although the resident nocturnal visitor is doing its best to throw the mulch about). 2 plants are doing great. One never sprouted, and 2 are like this :

not sure what's wrong but if they were mine I'd dig up and bin the poorly ones asap - they're not going to get better imo and so I wouldn't want to risk leaving them in place.

You seem to have a mix of old canes and new ones. If you cut out the old brown canes you should be left with new green ones which will fruit later in autumn.
I've just done this with some of mine that I pruned down to half to get an early summer crop.

But they were all cut down at the same time early in the season, VC. The child aren't great in this pic, but the affected cans aren't brown, they're blue - black.

They're not brittle or split, Penellype, and no fruiting bodies that I can see.

It's puzzling. Might email KM and see what they say.
