  • Cold frame conundrum

I would like to start to grow my own veg plants, so a propagator is on the list to buy this month. But my question is, can I put the young plants outside during the day & bring them at night. the reason why I ask is because, I am still pondering where to place a cold frame in the backyard. The back yard is split into two (garage in between). Plus, with the moggies, I would like to place said cold frame nowhere near any accessible possibilities to the back wall, utility & garage roves, as they're really house cats. (Don't have much street sense to be honest )

Your cold frame should be in a warm, sunny spot so look for the best position as a start.

I start seeds in a heated propagator indoors. Once germinated they come off the heat and into the light (windowsill normally).
Only when they're a good size, will they go outside, into a greenhouse (or in your case a coldframe). It depends on what plants they are and the outside temperature when they go out - that's not very helpful, is it!
