I’ve decided to grow a couple things as experiments! Not sure how well they’ll turn out but have a good few pods on my chickpeas so far! And a couple flowers on my luffa. Not really thought out very well how to support it as I was originally going to put it in the blowaway greenhouse but now happily in a corner on decking.

Are you planning on eating the loofah, or are you growing it for loofahs?

Chickpeas! They're my favourite food. Do you really think we could grow them in the UK (never mind Scotland)? I do wish!

I know they grow in Crete, but otherwise don't know anything about their cultivation.
Mostly flowers, some fruit and veg, at the seaside in Edinburgh.

To use in the bath as loofahs, you mean?
They're edible if harvested when still smallish (courgette size). They eat them a lot in Asia. They're much like a summer squash or courgette in flavour, although the flesh is a little denser.

Mines seem to be loving it so far! Can you see the chickpea pods in the picture? Got maybe about 10 pods now and more flowers I left mine to soak until the green part got a bit big (by mistake ) then planted out and they are thriving. So unexpected!

I spotted MissPea's post in that thread.

Sorry haven’t been on in a while, I literally soaked the chickpeas (from a supermarket pack) until the green part started growing well, then covered the seed with soil 😍 I think possibly need a lot more for a useable amount of chickpeas 🤣 at most I have 20 pods, lots of flowers though!
