Cut and come again lettuce, impressed.

Normally I grow green and red little gems.
I cut 1 of each and give them a good wash.
Pop them in a plastic bag in the fridge and use as requied.

For some reason I had a packet of mixed lettuce leaves, so I sowed a short row.
They grew very well.
I find it much easier to just pick a few leaves when I need them, as opposed to picking and washing 2 whole lettuce.

I grow both in short rows working on the idea that one or the other (or even both) will grow. I plant short rows every few weeks (when I remember and depending on the weather.) I definitely agree it is easier to just wash a few leaves.

I planted a mix of 8 different lettuce plants in late April and just harvested the outside leaves...amazingly those few plants lasted up to about 3 weeks ago when they well and truly went to seed (which I'm intending to save for next year). Very good value as I can't tell you how many supermarket bags of mixed leaves it's saved us.

I do this too - I feel like a little mouse nibbling away at the outter leaves lol The plants keep growing for an amazingly amount of time

I use Little Gem as come and cut again, as well as take it all. Just take a few outer leaves. They can grow into quite tall, not bonnie plants this way but taste good.

I treat all my lettuce as cut and come again seems to work out fine.

This year I grew cut-&-come-again lettuce & rocket, with some success. I think next year, a bigger container might be in order
