Green Zebra

Hi All

I grew some Red Zebra tomatoes from seed - all looking very healthy and doing fairly well, but even though they are fully formed, they are still green with no signs of any of them turning red. Has anyone else had this problem?

My courgettes were a bit of a disaster; if the blackfly didn't get them, the slugs did. I had a few tiny ones and 2 big ones (from 3 plants) but other than that nothing...

My French Beans gave me a good batch about a month ago and have completely stopped producing now.

Any tips and ideas of where I am going wrong? They are all in a south-facing garden, I have fed and watered them according to advice.

I think we will need a bit more info and possibly some photos to answer that question.

Are you growing in pots or the ground?
If pots, how big?
When were the tomatoes "fully formed"?
How often do you water?
How often have you fed?
Are they inside or out?
Have you been pruning? Taking out the "armpits'?
When the beans were ready did you pick them or did at anytime did you leave them get a little to big? Beans are s little like sweet peas...you need to keep picking or they will stop.
Nlackfly on courgettes?
Collect slugs at night with s torch/ use beer traps etc but slugs have never really been an issue in courgettes for me.

My Red Zebra are not ripe yet either. This year seems late. I keep a record of the weight of tomatoes picked each week and this year is well behind normal.

Are they soft or still hard? I ask this because Red Zebra were originally an accidental find in a field of Green Zebra so if they are soft it could be (though unlikely) that you've got Green Zebra.

Hopefully this warm weather will get them ripening - that's what I'm hoping anyway.

The only ripe toms I have at the mo are Tumbler and Sungold. Have had one ripe Tigerella (is this similar to Zebra?) and the rest (Shirley, Cherokee Purple, Crimson Crush are all still green so you’re not alone - I do occasionally ripen some indoors if I run short..

Just picked 3kg, about 3/4kg each of galina and gardeners delight (both cherry type) and same for alicante and marmande. This brings the total so far to 10kg. Last year at this stage I'd picked 25kg.

They look similar but are unrelated. Tigerella were created in the UK by Lewis Darby as a cross between Ailsa Craig and some other variety in the 1950s/60s, Red Zebra are by Tom Wagner in the USA in the 1980s. Personally I prefer Red Zebra.

Yep - blackly all over the courgettes. Way too much hard work for very little return.

All grown in pots in s south-facing garden. Yes I cut the armpits out of toms - they've finally gone red.

I picked beans when they were ready to eat. I'm not going to pick what doesn't grow big enough. Looks like there are some flowers coming back so I may get a little crop but the weather is getting much cooler now, so we'll see.
