  • very light frost this am - vegetable retrieval question

just a little bit on the car roofs.
Do I need to start bringing stuff in (like Butternut squash), or do I just let the plants die back and then do it?

A couple of light frosts doesn't usually harm butternuts. The forecast looks set to warm up a little so I'm leaving mine out.

I don't know about butternut squash but do know a number of plants can take frost as long as they don't have the Sun on them till they are defrosted
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Member of the Nutters Club but I think I am just there to make up the numbers

Just inspect the plants this afternoon. Do the leaves look normal now? If so, leave them. Or do they look darkened and limp? In which case, they probably won't survive.

Last couple of nights I've had reading of 3.2c and 4.2c in my GH I've still got courgettes in the garden so i've been covering them with fleece, hopefully I'll ripen the last few plants before it gets any colder.

I'm in Nottingham, we had frozen windscreens today so I nipped to the plot after work. Tromboncino squash had succumbed as had the Shiso plant, but Patty Pan in a sheltered corner was ok. No more frost forecast for quite a while here
