Weed supressent disappointment

Hi all.
The last lot of weed supressent I had about 3 years ago was a very tight robust weave a good heavy weight and is still going strong. I cannot recall the company I used previously
Unfortunately. I ordered a roll of 40mtrs x 2mtrs last week and the quality is nothing like as good.you can see the weave as each strand is much wider. It's also much thinner.
Yes it will cover my veg patches and strawberry beds etc. ( I also grow veg through it) However I have a piece of the same another allotment holder gave me and it breaks down faster and thins. It also shreds much easier being a loose weave. Has anyone else encountered this? It's supposed to be heavy duty 100gsm. I'm not convinced this is what I saw photographed on eBay..

The easiest way to check whether it is 100gsm would be to weigh it.

You are best to buy a brand name, each time then you are sure of the quality. Nowadays I only buy Protec or Yuzet 100gsm, with the green lines woven in, both seem reliable quality, some of my sheets are at least 8 years old now. I use a cheap soldering iron to cut holes and seal edges.

You can also buy 125gsm quality, perhaps you bought that the first time round?

Thelma that's very helpful as I noticed today on the allotment somebody's weed suppressant had green lines on it forming squares and it was more the weight of the one I have purchased myself a 3 years ago. I think the Protec is probably what I should be ordering the one I have is certainly quite a way below the standard I was expecting and whilst not desperately expensive neither was my better quality one when I purchased it . My previous purchased weed suppressant also had green lines on it but I did actually purchase that from eBay as well Thank you very much for your help if anyone else can throw any light on this I'd appreciate it perhaps other have bought similar.

Work out how many square metres your fabric is and then weigh the fabric. Divide the weight in grams by the number of square metres.
