Having suffered from slugs and small yields in the past, this year spent more time researching varieties and guess what the effort paid off. Criteria were slug resistance, good for mash, roadies and baking ( not bothered so much about boiling).
Excellent results all round. We grew:

Vitabella - best first early I've ever had. Awesome flavour, good yields and doesn't disintegrate
Bonnie - also excellent flavour and yields 2nd early
Inca Bella- maincrop beautiful spuds with red flowers on plant
    Kingsman - also good

So we'll stick to these again

Just placed an order with Bridgend Nursery for some of these with a kilo each of swift and harmony (baker) and a couple of other varieties recommended on here - kestrel (Aberdeenplotter) and 4kg Carolus (me). Also some Sturon and stur bc 20 onion sets 500g of each. Ended up with about 75kg of onions this year from this 1kg purchase so they like plenty of water.
