Today I harvested 2020

  • Yesterday's little harvest was sweetcorn, spring onions, beetroots, climbing and runner beans and apples.
    Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

    • Windfall Bramley apples, pimientos de Pàdron, green and yellow peppers (for curry), tomatoes, cucumber, courgettes, my first ripe chilli and my first (and last) melon. One solitary melon from 4 plants this year.

        • Just raspberries today. not many blackberries now so the birds can have them whats left i have plenty in my freezer.

          • Three ripe Beaver Dam chilies. They are large (5-6 inches long) and mild, so I had them stuffed and roasted.

                      • Yesterday I picked these runner beans,there was a pause of no beans for about two or three weeks,they’ve grown more shoots from somewhere,I only sowed once & a few courgette,mini peppers & more tomatoes -

                        • first squash of the season...
                          probably a butternut - grown from saved seeds from last year. It tasted like butternut (we tested a bit for bitterness), but was less orange, and the seeds came out more easily.

                          We had seven different vegetables in our dinner last night (beetroot, courgette, potato, squash, carrot, garlic and broccoli) - all homegrown...
