Must do leek Below Zero again

Braised leeks for tea with chicken and Yorkshire puds.
Had quite a few meals out of my row of leek Below Zero.
They keep well into the new year.
I don't transplant, just sow thinly and leave alone appart from weeding.
There are still 3 leeks left for my last meal.

I will be doing them again.
Anyone else like Below Zero?

Me too! Mine were planted quite late because the soil was rock hard/dry when they should have been dibbed in - but still managed to grow through winter to reach a fair size. Love 'em

I still have about a dozen in the ground, and had Potatoe and Leek soup two days ago and there was a great taste from the Leeks.

I'm lucky I have early planted leeks which are just about done, but my late sown leeks are just about ready to start cropping.

At what time of year would you be doing that then please?

I have allium root miner, but I was going to make a small enviromesh frame to grow some under - great if they don't need transplanting.

Its usually later then when you usually sow them, will try and find the label.
You dont get massive leeks. Usually as thick as a brush handle.

For the record..
Put leeks in a pan and boil for 3 minutes.
Drain and lay in an oven proof dish.
Salt pepper and a drizzle of olive oil.
Bake in bottem of oven for 30 mins whilst your roast spuds are cooking.
Whilst still piping hot sprinkle with grated cheese.

Our leeks are going strong, we love the plants for soups and stews. Just module planted more fore next year x
