  • Comfrey spacing

    Hello.

I've got some bocking 14 comfrey coming to me as root sections. Just enquiring as to appropriate spacing? Can I expect it to produce some material for making feed this year?

You may get a little but if you cut too much too early you will get less next year. About 3' centre to centre spacing, unless you only have a few plants, in which case it can be less.

The garden organic booklet suggests 2 - 3' apart but on poor soils 1' - 2' apart. Over time they do form clumps a bit like rhubarb. So you can always take cuttings in future if you want some more.
