  • Too wet for potatoes?

Sick to death of this non stop rain!
Have chitted my potatoes ready for planting in containers on my plot. Soil is obviously quite wet so is it worth waiting a bit longer before planting or go for it anyway?

If you're planting in containers, can't you cover the containers if you get a really wet spell and let it run off?

      Hi and welcome.
If you're planting in containers, why don't you cover them for a bit until the soil dries out?

      Snap!! Gf

If you are using garden soil pile some up to allow it to dry out a bit before filling your containers, if it's compost you are using I would put off planting until the night temperatures are above 3c, and depending on the size of your containers whither you would need any other covering apart from fleece to protect any greenery from a possible night frost, by the way if you ever get any plants caught by frost, spray with cold water and shade the foliage, it's the sun that will do the damage.
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
