Me again... favourite runnerbeans seeds and salads
I like the salad bowls green & red because you can just pick a few leaves, or freckles which doesn't often bolt here even when the thermometer approaches 40. White lady runner, quite pretty, but tbh I can't remember how good the beans were!
I love Painted Lady runner beans because the flowers are so pretty but I’ve swapped to a newer bi-coloured runner this year called Tenderstar which is self pollinating.
Also try Red Grenoble as a winter lettuce, very hardy
I don't grow runner beans for the flowers, although they are pretty, nor the pods... but for the yummy beans inside They're all good for the beans actually, but Czar is particularly pretty beans.
I grow all lettuce for picking a few leaves at a time. I especially like the red oak lettuce.
Depends what salad you like. We do lots of cut and come again - as has been said red & green salad bowl. Lollo rosso (but sometimes it goes a bit manky). Mazur is great takes heat and cold and keeps going. If you want individual headed lettuce Tom Thumb little gem are good. Black-seeded Simpson are really good.

And a heaven in a wild flower
I'm very fussy about runner beans and won't eat them if they are stringy or develop tough or hard bits inside and for this reason I didn't grow them for years. I now grow Stardust, which has white flowers and is a cross between runner and french beans and has the best taste I have found. The red flowered Firestorm is similar but in my opinion not as nice.
My favourite lettuces are Warpath (reliable mini iceberg), Black Seeded Simpson which makes large soft leaves, Lollo Rossa which appears to be less attractive to slugs than some and Salad Bowl which is very reliable. I also grow one of the lettuce mixes (not mixed leaves, which are often mostly brassicas) and some winter lettuces which I find rather difficult.

I love all beans, but runners are my least favourite, as tbh, they're not very 'beany'. How do you grow yours to get beans Sariss?
Mostly flowers, some fruit and veg, at the seaside in Edinburgh.

I find no dry beans taste "beany", whether they be runner, haricot, flageolet, kidney bean, butter bean, or anything else.
Dry beans taste sweet and nutty. Only fresh beans taste "beany".

Just grow as normal beans and let them dry until the pods go dry and crispy. If the Autumn is a wet one you need to pull the plants and dry in the GH or shed.
