Pallet compost area help

    In case these might give you some ideas, here's what I did to make a two-bin system:

    I used two full pallets for the back to keep the compost away from the fence:

    I found it much easier to knock the skids off the rest of the pallets to make the middle and sides from just the tops. I used the strongest looking top for the middle:

      Lids are easy to make - some repurposed gate hinges are great if you can find them:

      For the front I used some pallet slats to make runners, then made each front in two halves which simply slot in:

        and use the compost from other. When I run out, I start filling the bin I've just used.

        It works for me, I've not found the need for a third bin. Regular turning helps to speed things along, as does chopping everything as small as you can be bothered.

          Good point - I did use extra slats to fill in some of the bigger pallet gaps.
