Do you actually save any money gowing stuff?

Apart from the money debate, growing your own makes you that little bit more sustainable, especially during this crazy Coronavirus time that could drag on and on and on.

Have your own veg means fewer trips to the supermarket and you know what you’re getting. At the moment trips to the supermarket are like roulette in that you don’t know what’s in stock from day to day.

This is my second year trying to grow, and my first full year as I see it. Last year I started very late with wanting to grow my own bok choy. That was it. Simple. I grabbed a multi pack of six "oriental vegetable" seeds and had a go at the other five while I was at it. Within a few weeks some horrifically destructive force took over my brain and I was suddenly digging up my back garden to a horrendous state. Maybe a week later, I was all over the internet looking up crazy (to me) stuff I had never heard of and wondering if I could grow it.

Ah, the slippery slope, "I'll grow a few things in the garden, then a veg patch, it's a bit small, oooh, maybe half a plot would be fun..." Now I've got stuff in the garden, greenhouse, a whole plot, 4 compost heaps and fruit trees....
