  • Cashing in on the crisis

Anyone had the latest marketing email from th****son & M***an.
    Are they kidding!!
£6.99 for one runner bean plant in a 10cm pot.
    £8.99 for one tomato.
    Talk about cashing in.
Don’t they realise that people will remember how they took advantage of this horrible situation.

I couldn't see anything like that, all multiple offers like 15 beans for £12.99 or tomatoes 3 for £7.99.
Still expensive with P+P but not as bad as you say.

          Hi,
I think they are hiding these in with others in the hope they're misread. Funny thing is I couldn't find them on the website. I agree, it's taking the mickey.
Just been to the Range for some compost and the DeRee 49p beans/carrot/tomato seeds have been stripped and seem to be on ebay for over £4.
Farendwoman, please don't buy them. lol

I have got enough germinated seed to cover the ground so I will not buy those.
I have got plenty of germinated runner bean seeds begging to be planted out.

Thompson & Morgan have never been 'cheap'. I've bought some flower plugs from them - you get 10% discount when you sign up for their newsletter.

If I couldn't find anywhere else - and choice is limited - I'd buy them. If I wanted 12 Sungold jumbo plugs I see I can buy them for £12.99 from yougarden.com!

I have just emailed ccare@thompson-morgan.com and told them how disgusted I am with their profiteering, and I will NEVER order anything from there again. I wouldn't anyway, but they don't know that.

I looked at my email just before logging on to the Vine. I could understand if they were selling at about 1/4 of the price, but a dozen carrot plugs for a tenner? or a single French bean for seven quid?

I guess that they've got stock to shift. They'll probably have to harvest it themselves...

Thank goodness others have received this profiteering email.
                      Thought I was going bonkers!

They've got a cheek. Both them and Suttons trying to charge £4 for packets of veg seeds. My first preference was King's, but they were closed and took a gamble on Chiltern's. Slightly more expensive, but cheaper then the big boys.

Maybe there's a giant living at the top of the bean stalk!

Plenty trying to cash in. Locally someone making out they are saviour of local nurseries flogging mpc of unknown name or quality for £35 for 180lt.
Even the normally reputable Woodcote is doing Miracle-Gro 20lt at £5 and no quantity discount! Luckily I got an order in before they turned to footpads!

Just to let you know, I know a couple of Journo types who are appalled by Thompson & Morgan prices for 1 bean, they have tried to contact T&M for an explanation.

I suspect this will blow up in T&M face anytime soon.
