  • Pot size for chilli

I have a Carolina reaper and white ghost chilli, what final size of pot should these be in, the plants are about 40cm tall at the moment, thanks

40 cms? i.e. almost 40 inches? Last time I grew chillies, I put them in 8in rose pots, i.e. deep ones

I tend to use re-cycled rose pots or the long tom ones to give the roots room and plenty of compost to feed on.

          I use 7 or 8 inch pots.

Chillichump on YouTube knows a thing or 2 about growing chillis and he says never use a pot bigger than 10litres. 7 or 10 litre pots depending on the size of the plant. Fwiw I left one of my moruga scorpians in a 5 litre pot last year that had more ripe chillis on it than my other super hots. I think restricting it's root ball possibly caused it to fruit and ripen the fruit earlier. It had less chillis overall but all them ripened pretty much.

I put mine in MFB’s. Never really had great crops. Could be the reason after reading this maybe?

                Kind Regards..........Rob
