quinoa (pronounced keen-wa) is a cereal crop, with small white round grains, similar to rice or cous cous. Im not sure what the plants look like though, or how easy it is to grow?
I think it is quite high in protein too...

No clues here but did you happen to recieve The Real Seed Catalogue yesterday L-L? I'm just about to order some quinoa from them!

Having eaten it I'm not going to grow it. It tastes worse than cardboard. I only finished the portion I'd cooked out of cussedness!

anyway, Quinoa, the Queen of Grains, v.high in protein.
But I'm with Flum again, it's orrible. Mushy, tasteless pap like tapioca with less appeal. Might make good wild bird seed though, like millet?

I'd much rather eat millet. When both I and son were totally veg (I now eat fish for arthtitis reasons) we had a very varied grain and pulse diet. There's some really good stuff out there that people just don't eat.

No problem there LL - if we all like the same stuff some of us would be killed in the rush. For example, there was a distinct lack of enthusiasm for pickled eggs on another thread!
