I quite like quinoa, it adds a delicious nutty taste when added (in modest amounts!) to a crumble topping, and also makes an EXCELLENT topping on bread before baking.
I'm growing some this year, and next. It is closely related to dock in the fat hen family, so easy to grow and not temperamental and is frequently seen in the countryside as pheasant cover - it grows easily and pretty tall - be warned! Once the flowers/seeds start to ripen they go the most fantastic colours too, yellows, reds, oranges and greens.
Even if you don't like the taste, I'd grow some as wild bird cover/attractive taller stuff on the lottie and leave over the autumn/winter.
We are getting the good stuff from Real Seeds again to eat, but I think you can get it cheaper if you want it more for cover/looks/bird food.
Give it a try - you may be surprised, but I certainly wouldn't eat it on its own - but as an ingredient in things its fab!
