Hi - I stored a pumpkin right through 'til Spring, when it started to rot a bit: Inside were hundreds of seeds, already sprouting ! Potted them up & grew lots more this year. Dried & stored other seeds more conventionally, which worked too. You might get some odd cross pollination though (?) - some of my pumpkins this year look a bit marrowy : )
(Guess Sharon fruit are worth a go too)

Hi,
Try this link to 'Plants for a Future Database' for sharon/persimmon fruit
http://www.pfaf.org/database/plants.php?Diospyros+kaki
apparently they are trees that are OK to -14 C when dormant, but require warmer summers than we generally have, so depends where you live as to how successful, always worth a go though - I have a tamarind seedling that I know I'll never get fruit from, but the leaves are beautiful

ooh ooh something i can answer!! mainly sharon fruit dont come with seeds but i got one seed a few months ago and planted it. definately try, put it somewhere warm though and cover the pot with a plastic bag or peice of glass. make sure you sow the seed on its side. mine is about 4 inches tall now. hasnt been putting on height growth but the centre bud is growing. technically, apparently the tree would be hardy in parts of england but wouldnt fruit. either way, i dont have room for a tree but still fun.
