Anybody know where I can get hold of brussel sprout ICARUS seed, I am down to my last 5 seeds and I want to get some more for next season

What about leaving some to run to seed? (apologies if this is not feasible as it is a hybrid or something - I know nothing about sprouts)

They are an F1 Shirl. The National Vegetable Society seems to have them. At least, there's info on them at their site. I imagine you have to join to buy them.

Ah well. One more lesson in sprouts (the biggest one I learned this year is that I don't seem to be able to grow them) I have one plant and it is 6 inches high - looks healthy but not in a vigorous way if I cut off all its leaves I may have the equivalent food value of a half-sprout!!

          You're not alone Shirl,

I tried to grow them yonks ago but failed completely. Haven't tried any here yet but, might have another go next year, you know what they say "If at first you don't suceed"

The only time I grew them, Shirl and Scarey, they were a useful size but a martyr to whitefly. Mind you, that was on my old lottie and everything seemed to get them. Here I have very little - even on the curly kale which was like walking through fog to harvest. However, I have only a small plot here and I can't be mithered to fight against the elements and the beasties for a crop I don't like. I'm 58 and I don't have to eat my sprouts, mother!

Thomson and Morgan should be able to help - Icarus is listed among their varieties.

Not in T&M this year should have got them from seeds by size last year, looks like I am going to have to find another type to replace Icarus.

If you google them there's a site in America you can get them from but I don't know how you feel about this?
