Can anyone recommend chillies that can be grown in pots outside, I have done Hungarian Hotwax with some success but would like to do more. I have just got a pop up coldframe to start them off in.

Thanks for posting the link Alice. Glad to see you are all keen on the challenge.
Shirley, the mildest jalapeno is Jalapeno Tam: jalapeno tam chile pepper database
I have found them for sale here:

Not sure that they grow very long though so they probably wouldn't win you the competition, but you never know

Just a quick update. You can now register and get your name on the leaderboard! You just need to register with the site to get started (if you are already on the world map or have a growing list then you have already registered and will be able to get on the leaderboard as soon as you login).

            Regards

Silly question this Juilian but do I register once I have started my seeds off or can I do it now while I am waiting for them to arrive?

(.... says she who will probably have to be the last in the competition for starting off seeds !! .........)

You can register any time you like. Once you log in, there is an option for the competition, and on that page you can set your country and pepper length. As soon as you set your country you will appear on the leaderboard. You can leave the pepper length at 0cm until you are ready to start growing.

Hi all, Just wondering is anyone else having difficulty loging in. I have tried everything to no avail. I was a member last year and just wanted to send the email with my user name but that win't go either. Any help appreciated.

You need to email help@thechileman.org (I hope I have that right) and they will give you a new password to log in with.

Sorry, we were getting too much spam at that help@ email address so it no longer exists.

To enter the competition you need to register here:
                        ...

Last year I did it all manually but we had about 200 entries so I spend far too much time reminding people of passwords, etc. This year the website will take care of it all automatically. In theory(!) I won't need to spend as much time administering the competition So I can concentrate on growing. Last year I didn't even get time to grow a Big Jim

                        Hope this helps.

Hi unconcerned, I've just registered (again!) and chosen jalapeno to grow to be on the leaderboard. What if I wanted to grow purple jalapeno too, can I get that on the leaderboard?

                            Hi smallblueplanet.
I haven't thought it through yet At the moment you can only register one variety. If your purple jalapeno grows the biggest pod, that's fine. You won't be held to the variety you put down when you sign up.

Not at all smallblueplanet. I quite often find that what makes sense to me as I have been looking at the code for too long, doesn't actually make sense to everybody else. Consequently I have now changed it so that you can amend the variety as often as you like (though it remembers what you put last time so that you don't have to keep selecting it). So thanks for the suggestion!
