  • Mine came through within about a week in a heated propogator on the window ledge, they're progressing slowly but nowhere near as bad as the Long Joe things last year which were possibly the slowest chillies I've ever grown!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

          • Planted mine in a heated propagator in the shed a few weeks ago. They're about 2-3 inches tall now. I'll take some piccies at the weekend (maybe tonight if I get home on time).

            • Sowed mine on 9 Feb in a heated propogator and they were all through by 17 Feb. They're now looking pretty healthy with proper leaves and have been potted up from the ickle newspaper pots they were sown in into 3" plastic pots and are currently being cossetted in the dumping room that we big up by calling it a conservatory.

              • Mine went in last month - now about 1" high with only their first true leaves. Keeping them in cold greenhouse in the day but in the house at night - want them tough and sturdy not leggy from lack of light!

That's why mine have been moved to the lean too as it's got loads of light and not too warm, although not so cold that I need to move them at night as I have to leave for work too early to put them anywhere like a greenhouse, was only about 2o this morning when I left home.

                  • Sounds like the Jalapenos germinate more readily than the Big Jims - although I did get a great crop of super chillies from them. I'm growing them again this year if I can get them started.

Alison, just at the moment, I have a conservatory to match yours

                      • The Big Jims you sent me germinated very well Alice - they are grand little plants now - as are the Hungarian Hot Wax. I put them in a few weeks before the jalapenos and they have several pairs of true leaves and stand about 3" high. I'm really pleased with them.

                              • Been the doofus that I am, I've been keeping mine in the greenhouse since they sprouted, and I'm pretty sure it's too cold for them. Just ordered some more seeds (I wanted some different ones anyway - ordered some Twilight, they look amazing) which should arrive soon, so if at first you act like a muppet...
