  • Maybe what's on the Challenge page is wrong then.

It does state this on the grower/size page:-
Between the 1st of January and the 31st August we invite you to grow a jalapeño plant. We don't care which variety of jalapeño you choose, just grow the longest pod.
    I love growing tomatoes.

      • Sorry, you're absolutely right McSee. The competition does end on 31st Aug (it was end of Sept last year) so that's why I'm confused. End of August seems early - but if that's the rules. Oh well, unless something dramatic happens I'm going to have a wee 6cm one.

                  • What type of jalapeno is that Charlie?

You've listed it as the standard jalapeno, but it definitely isn't. The standard Jalapeno is very smooth and bullet like in shape, not ridged and pointed at the bottom. Yours looks more like a cross with a cayenne. I'm not saying it definitely isn't a jalapeno, just that it doesn't look like one

                    • Hi unconcerned, don't you think 31st Aug is a bit early an end date for UK growers?

It could be 31st December for me and I'd still be in with as much chance as seeing Elvis live at Wembley.

                          • SBP - Should be plenty of time for everyone. Last year we had it a month later and nobody changed anything in the last month. We got the distinct impression that we'd run the competition for too long. I may let it run longer. I may not.

sdgtiger - I am afraid not.
