He seems to have great taste Definately on my list for 2008!

        NOT on my list are
Ailsa Craig - problems with low production, greenback, boring flavour & ended up with blight.
Black Russian - similar problems to Ailsa Craig
Pink Brandywine - flavour good, but yield to low for the space used
I've tried all of those for 2 years, so not just based on 2007's rubbish summer!

All varieties of tomato were rubbish last year. One I would deffo grow is Gardeners Delight. Old fashioned maybe, but so lovely to eat straight from the plant.

Any suggestions as to what variety would be best grown in a hot climate?

I am specifically looking for a variety that is suited to sun drying.

            Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

I'd be happy to grow just one tomato. Last year was appalling!

                  Trying a few this year:

                  Tiger Tom
San Marzano (that pomodoro one )
                  Sub Arctic
                  Gardeners Delight
The ones that Flum is kindly sending me

                  Fingers crossed.

I don't know if its indeterminate or not, I've seen it described as both, I shall assume cordon to be safe. I expect yours will grow better in the Spanish sun, than mine in our g/h!

Thanks, seedsofitaly.com list them also and say indeterminate.

Will try looking for organic seeds if possible before buying. Will not be planting until May.

I've got to back up Manda on this. I had a cracking crop from it last year and they dried beautifully.

I was growing it as a cordon but let a number of extra branches grow off it and it started to take over stakes for other plants. I think it is perfectly happy to grow many, many stems.
