  • Help - I think I have done it wrong!!

Hi all, I planted out carrots on my allotment and nothing seems to be happening. The seed packet said "DO NOT WATER" and it rained 2 hours later. Also, I planted 6 cauliflower seeds and put them on my kitchen windowsill and then I was going to plant them out. Anyway, I planted them and then watered them - then everytime the soil dried out - I watered them a bit more.

Someone told me that I should have watered the hole that the seed was to go in and leave them until they sprouted before watering the seedlings.

    Is this right?

Does this mean that my seeds wont grow

Bet they'll be fine! Don't know anything about caulis, but I planted out some carrots AGES ago, and then it rained! I'd just about given up on them and hey presto, they are just stsrting to peep through the surface!

    Don't give up yet!!

Don't see how that could be a problem for your cauliflower seeds. I simply planted mine in a pot of soil, watered and made sure in the coming weeks that it didn't dry out. Now it looks like that the majority of the seeds have sprouted I'm sure it'll be fine.

I planted carrots about six weeks ago and they only put their heads above the soil about four weeks later! My beets were the same. I had planted the seed on quite a warm day, but then we got a good ten days of winter so I had written them off! But .. well the rest is history!
