We have had theads advocating using wee as a high nitro fertiliser but beware!!

Behind my hut is an enormous thistle which was flourishing. My experiment involved peeing on the centre of the thistle each time I got caught short to see if it would grow more or less. After about a month of peeing on it it is black and dead!
Ammonia(wee) or sulphate of anmmonia can be used as a fertiliser or a weedkiller, the knack is , getting the dosage right!

If your theory works on docks, I could save myself a lot of money in weed killer...

I think if I wee on anything it would die of alcohol poisoning! I have a few sites in mind that would be free form pee and south facing, free draining and sheltered. I'm thinking along the lines of squashes and such for them. A few sites could cope with beans and peas (I even found an abandonded south facing bed complete with trellis!) but keep the ideas coming; I'm making notes.

Any thoughts on cucumbers?

Hi PhantomVeg Cucumbers is good, just use the ridge type.They can either climb up something or sprawl along the ground. Watch out for slugs though. Spuds would be good, i dont think the haulms would pose much of a problem, because most non gardening public would walk straight over them, and not know whats underneath. The fools hehe

They have actually used rainbow chard in the municipal planting schemes in our borough. It caused a few sniggers, but looked pretty good. Very easy care and tolerant of the English summer too!

If you use a mix of veg and flowers, few people will notice much difference and your work might have a better chance of survival.

I've used beetroot, lettuce and carrots before in a formal bed.They go rather well together! I'm sure they would be more imaginative than Blue Lobelia,White Alysum and Tagetes!
