  • Has anybody grown...

Black eyed beans or moth beans.

I note that both are drought tolerant and want to try and establish my own strains.

Have any of you grapes grown them before?

No but I do love Hoppin' John, which uses black eyes beans. I noted that the 'soldier' french beans I got from the HSL are drought tolerant too. I would think they are related. Have you got hold of seeds or are you using bought-in culinary beans?

I grew Black Eyed Peas (same thing?) a couple of years ago, just from Holland and Barrett bean mix. They cropped, but I can't remember how well or anything about them.

I shall probably give a bag of "Natco" from Tesco a whirl in the absence of any other supplier at the moment.

They are usually referred to as peas or beans -often in the same recipe!

Are you treating them as French beans? Out after frosts etc.
