  • Follow on veggies?

After reading the leeks thread, it seems common practice to 'follow on' early spuds with winter leeks. Are there any other 'follow ons' that save growing space?

What would you follow broad beans with, am thinking tomatoes?

Good ol' John Sermour has you putting in brassicas after legumes, and then they stop in over winter. So you sow brussels/calabrese whatever in May in a seed bed (or a pot, if you're me) then you whizz out the broadies in about mid june and slap the brassicas in their place.

Ahhh, not that fond of brassicas, its gonna be toms so I hope they're not 'contra-indicative'!

Remember that radishes & many salad leaves (rocket, mizuna etc.) also fall in teh same group as brassicas, so that might be a good alternative to cabbage & broccoli.

Not having read Seymour I put my Purple Sprouting in there - they are fortuitously ready at the right time! Ain't nature wonderful?
