Hi Maxine
I'd start putting them in now, both your earlies and your maincrops. Are you growing them in containers or straight into the ground. Not sure if you've chitted them or not, but there are schools of thought that say you should, and others that say it makes no difference to the crop, so regardless, start planting.Rat

Tatties
Hello! Another newbie to the world of growing veg, I'm afraid. We rent our house so I'm only able to grow in pots. I've got some Maris Peer in a 1/2 barrel and have just been given some Nicola, Charlotte and more Maris Peer. I've got some old buckets and was thinking about using those. What's the latest date I can start planting? None of the seed tatties I've been given have chitted, is it really necessary?

Hi doggler and welcome,
You should really get them in now but don't worry if you are a week or so behind. Gardening should be fun and not a panic of toil and graft. Enjoy planting them at your own pace. Do not worry about chitting them and look forward to some fabulous spuds.
PS My favourite at the moment is the Charlotte variety, simply superb boiled as new potato's with a little butter, oooooh!
