ive been given a bag of peat now i know its frowned upon but as i have it im going to use it. should i just spread it out over my raised beds or dig it in (when it finally stops raining).

Isn't peat a bit acidic ? You can save peat for potting up plants with acidic soil requirements like blueberry, cranberry, azalea, rhododenron, camelia, pieris etc or as SBP pointed out, can be mixed with compost to make seed compost.Food for Free

Peat has virtually no nutrient - it's more of a bulking up ingredient.
I'm not sure you'll get much benefit from spreading it on your beds, or even digging it in.
As very precious resource, I would use it for sowing - it is its benefit in this area which has made it so popular.
(Look! I resisted from saying "Peat! Tsk! Very bad!")
