Hey! This makes me feel very virtuous!

I used quite a few of those 7cm square pots from wilko last year, and whenever I planted out at the Hill, I stacked the pots brought them home, then chucked them in the sink to wash in a hot water and Flash.

Ironing??? I vaguely remember what that means! Actually, no, I do iron OH's work shirts but never bedding or the like - and washing pots? Well, I did give my tomato pots a really good disinfect, everything else gets a quick rinse to remove the stuck compost and dirt since they have to go on the kitchen windowsill. I'm really glad to hear I don't have to though, cos there'll be lots more next year and they'll be in a greenhouse instead - phew, another job saved!!

I am with Flummery on the ironing, and in recent months have become even worse - OH used to iron his own and I'd do mine, but somehow (and please don't ask how cos if I knew I'd repeat on other tasks) I have meneged to get OH doing all of the ironing!!

As for pots, well, knock the old stuff out of them and put fresh compost in - that's my way. Then again, I have very few pots that I sow into (I usually buy a lot of plants already half grown....red faced embarssed slinking away)

I washed my roottrainers at the end of last season. But that's all i'm washing. The pots and trays don't get any royal treatment.

Sorry, I always wash mine thoroughly, but then I did train as a microbiologist - which I don't recommend, it can do terrible things for your peace of mind.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I wash the small starter pots but just give a rub with a cloth to the bigger ones. Like Flum I don't iron towels or underwear but when i put fresh sheets on the bed i turn out the top of the sheet over the quilt and iron the top bit. It looks really nice and OH thinks i've spent the day ironing.

Can I send him for a weeks training?? A fresh shirt every day, usually comes back covered in engine oil or similar ... (he's a technical trainer!)

Yet why so many articles (one below) on seeds sowing mentions hygiene. I do mine just in case.
