Got Jalapeno seeds to start off, and am overwintering a Padron which I only started off last July - hopefully it will fruit more this year, only had time for 4 chili's last year.

Hi. I was choosing my chilli seeds in my local Wilkos stores today.
I wanted to grow some hot and some sweet. At between 89P and £1.29 a pack i thought they were pretty reasonable UNTIL i spotted the seed growing kit they also sold, so here it is, i got the following :-

          50 sweet pepper yolo wonder
          compost
4 part seed propagator and lid.....ALL FOR £1.99.

Well, I bought some Jalapeno Ole seeds on ebay and they arrived this morning, along with freebies of Naga Jolokia and Tepin Tarahumara. I will try one seed of each so if anyone fancies some hot chillies, PM me and I will put a couple of seeds in the post.
                Happy Gardening,

I don't often grow chillis as I'm not a fan, but last year I picked up a couple of plants from the local garden centre, just for their ornamental value. (I wanted to put them on the lottie with a few bedding plants in containers and thought that there ought to be something edible in the display). Anyway my kids started taking the ripe ones home and thought they were wonderful, so I've been trawling the seed catalogues trying to find them and finally, yesterday, I found them (Dobie's). They're called Fatalii so I'm about to order some so I can get an early start. I will probably grow a few plants, some to look pretty and some for the kids to raid.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

                    Worth Varieties to Try

Haven't quite got into chillies yet folks as I don't find them quite as useful as sweet peppers which you can use as proper veggie, as mostly seasoning that the chilli is (unless there are folks out there who can eat whole chilli raw straight into the mouth ).

So what are the worthy ones that each variety is different to the others (I mean no duplicates of chilli character):

So far I like the sound of yellow chilli with lemony twist.

                      I'm growing
                      Thai - Birds eye
                      Bolivian Rainbow
                      Little elf
i don't use much chilli but i thought these looked really nice and i can choose not to grow next year if i don't like them or don't use many but i know lots of people that cook with them but wouldn't think to grow them so i'm thinking birthdays in a nice pot
I'd rather regret the things i've done than regret not doing them at all.

Yes I think that's what made it so popular with the kids last year, there was probably this whole macho thing going on with their spouses.

It reminds me to my bad experience last year Bluemoon.
I had 3 Romanian Hot chili plant last year, they were very productive (produced a bit over a kg of chilies/plant) and after giving away to family and friends we got around 2 kg left. Because they were sweet and mild I deseeded 2 kg without using any gloves (thinking that it will be ok) BUT it was a disaster, I got burning pain on my hands for 3 days. Everytime if I use the romanian hot chili powder for cooking, it bring me back to this painfull hands. I won't be that careless again, learned my harsh lesson .
