  • ready to start!

Hi guys, finally we have moved house and I am ready to start with the veggie plot! The bad news is I will be asking lots of daft questions as all the books I have tend to assusme knowledge that as a beginner I don't have!

I am now planning where the plot will be, got some chickens already and need a big lawned area for the children and play places for them. But garden is 160ft by 50 at it's widest so should have no probs getting it all in!

I have been reading the post about not rotivating the veg plot bit - was just about to rotivate it so not going to now, going to cover it up then dig instead.

    First question is about asparagus:
I want a bed big enough to feed 4 of us, plus thieving family, lol (I know they take a few years to get going and so can't be moved etc). How much space do I need for 12 crowns? And would 12 be enough?

    thanks, janey

ps am really excited I can finally get going after months of planning and having to move house to get my veggies and chickens!

Hi thanks, I have just been searching the old posts for some info and will be getting dp to do the maths when he gets home! Thinking 2m by 2m might be enough
