  • leaf mulch

I've got tons of autumn leaves on the ground - mostly oak, and can't be bothered to pile them all up then wait 2 years for them to turn into leaf mould. Surely the soil on the veg patch would benefit from having them turned in & rotavated later, to rot down as the season progresses?
    Cheers, Sue.

I'm not sure how that would turn out but tell us how it does turn out if you do

Where are you in SW France Sue?

We use leaf mould and leaves (about a year old, been outside and not composted) in the raised beds at the chateau at which I garden, has never been a problem and we don't rotorvate them in, just use them as a sub strata and then as a mulch. I don't use them (oak mainly) directly on my own raised beds but I do compost them well first, at least a year, though this year I'm experimenting with using them as a mulch on my soft fruit beds.

Can't see how to do private message any more.
Gardening begins to take over (Seb 47) health issues hopefully! Just getting the potato bed ready.
