Not to be grown list

Dear Grapes,

I know it will sound silly to ask but do you have anything which you will not grow at all ( due to taste, space, time...).

I must admit, there are several vegs i will not be growing such as:
- Asparagus, don't have space (but love eating em) and it's abundance here.
- Brussel sprouts, don't have the space plus my tummy can't take it.
- Swede, don't like the taste.
etc, etc.
Please share yours and why .

Many thanks and hopefully we all can learn something out of it .

definately brussels here although me and the wife eat them the kids refuse so its just easier to buy the odd bag of frozen.

Well on only one try it'll be celery that is a no-no no-grow here. Grew the self-blanching kind - looked superb, tasted bitter, stringey - bleurgh!

Like I've mentioned before, Peas and Carrots are so ridiculously dirt cheap to buy, it's more expensive to grow them yourself so not worth getting my hands dirty slaving away for these two veggies...besides not a big fan of carrots so freshly grown have ZERO special for me.

Broad beans have yukky taste for me personally. More practical to buy Celery & don't eat enough. Turnips is less tasty than swede and possibly Kohl Rabi and besides not a huge fan of root veg. Don't like salad Radish either, very strong and bitter taste but Mooli is fine for cooking.

Veggies that I say I would never eat/grow but now will grow are Potato (exclusive ones only), Onion (Red only), Beetroot (golden only), Chard and now Kale (best edible ones only) !

Won't bother again with mooli or kohl rabi as i didn't like them much and hate turnips and swedes!

only grow early pots cause they taste fab and are very expensive when they first hit the shops, dont bother with main crop cause they take too much valuable space, i
dont bother with celery either cant stand the stuff

Turnips, my Dad used to grow them when I was little, I tasted a bad one, it turned me off completely. I thought I would try them again last year, I still hate them.

I forget to mentioned Turkish Aubergine, they are gorgeous and very productive (plus very early) BUT with very bitter taste (and mild sweetness). Will not grow it anymore!

I only have a very small garden plot so the things I grow are the plants that don't take up too much room and are expensive to buy in the shops. Every year I hear that raddish is easy to grow but I've never managed it, lots of leaves but no raddish, one of these years, I'm going to succeed.

You didn't used to eat spuds!!!!!!!!!! As a kid we ate them every day, rice and pasta were far too exotic back then!

I hate brussell sprouts but I'm being pestered to grow some by the other half. I'm always complaining that he doesn't eat enough veg so I'm obliging. :P

Every year I hear that raddish is easy to grow but I've never managed it, lots of leaves but no raddish, one of these years, I'm going to succeed.

Great to see I'm not the only person in the world who can't grow raddish!

Found salsify a lot of work for the results, I don't bother with broad beans, only grow early pots as the rest of the season has lovely Cornish locals from neighbouring farms, find Caulis a real challenge and have already eaten my share of the world Jerusalem artichoke crop.

Otherwise, most of the seed catalogue is fair game!

Dont grow carrots cos I cant. Light sandy soil, no manure, carrots will grow a treat??? Pah!!
Dont grow sprouts as they are vile. Only grow spuds in pots as take up too much space to grow enough to feed us all.
Love melons but its an all out war between me and the slug, and I'm fed up of prowling the garden at 3 am with a head torch on in the rain looking for them so wont grow them again either.
