Ah now, raw onion in a cheese butty is seriously up my street!

Just hoping I'll get good normal sized onions this year - last year they were watery...

Being successful at growing giant veg takes an awful lot of time and effort so be warned! I've tried with pumpkins but I couldn't couldn't keep up with watering and weeding to get anything close to respectable. They really need to be grown in your garden so you can tend to them everyday.

As for onions do a search for vegmandan on here. He grew some huge onions last year and in his signature there is a link to his website which expalins more. It might help you out. Good luck

I agree that growing giant veg is definitely a labour of love. I try to grow a bigger pumpkin each year but can't get one more than 30lb which is pathetic really. And after last year just an ordinary sized onion would be great.
