Call me a Luddite Hair Shirter: I don't care. But what's wrong with pencil and squared paper?
I know it's not all electronic and fun and gadgety, but I can do it quicker with a hard copy. Much less frustrating too cos paper doesn't freeze or crash.

      Good Morning LHS

I am a borderline trainee geek, or have been for the last 15 years - I am pretty much geeked out now and find a pencil, paper and rubber thrills me to the top and back. I guess having worked in front of this box for so long may have an influence on how I now get a thrill from paper.

So I'm with you on this one LHS/TS

I am in most respects a follower of Mr Ludd and his ideals.
Thing is, I'm trying to do it at work at my desk and if I have big garden plans stuck all over the place peoply may suspect I am not giving my job my full attention.
Nobody can see my computer, hence the wish for a software type thing

well now I get where you're coming from, and I totally support you in your endeavours.

I had a quick Google and found this lovely plan: http://www.5rods.co.uk/wp-content/up...t_25_05_06.pdf
(love the big sections for weeds!)

I am half way between Mr Ludd and Mr Dore

Perhaps it is my advancing years, but the learning curve involved in taking on a new software package means I need to be pretty much convinced of the merits before embarking even on a free trial. Also I am a pupil of the Flum's School for Tightwads, so cost is also a consideration.

However, paper and pencil is out for me, as every time the season changes, I have to redraw the plan from scratch.

My compromise is Jeremy's looked down upon spreadsheet - I can use excel pretty competently already, and with my rectangular plot and rectangular beds it's easy to set out a plan. I add or delete according to what I sow or harvest - using different blocks of colour should I wish.

I know what family each veg is (except the odd ones, which I'll look up or ask here) and my rotation (legumes then overwinter brassicas then misc then roots then potatoes) is straightforward.

Works for me (and if you want a copy, Moggie, let me know), but each to their own!

There is a lot to be said for a bit of simplicity.
Very reminiscent of the tale of the 'Computerman' who sent his father a printed page that said "This is my computer. I doesItalicsBold...etc.
His father wrote back, "This is my pen. It does ItalicsBold...etc, and Upside down"

LOL wish it was Looks good on computer just hope it turns out as good as plan looks.
Someone told me to use spread sheets on excel to plan my veggie plot and to remind me of the plot rotation plan.

                    Hazel
Could I be cheeky and ask for a copy of your plan too please?
I am rummaging through all sorts of electronic wizardry to try and get my plans up and running.
The BBC garden one was predominantly for flowers, and to be honest when I couldnt even site my greenhouse where I wanted it, I just gave up.
Perhaps if I had read the instructions first......

Click on multi quote at the bottom of each of the messages as you want to quote from, then 'reply' top left......

I'm not sure exactly how short a period of time a "trice" actually is, but its clearly not very long at all.
Many thanks, I can now spend hours playing and nobody will be able to see me behind my screen.
Printing it off may be an issue though???
Thanks again, will be very useful
