Bush Squash varieties

I am looking to grow squah this year, but dont have the space for the trailing types. Anyoe recommend a good bush ? I have been looking at the "Squash : Summer : Patty Pans Scallop Mixed" from Thompson & Morgan
Anyone got any experience of these ? How big does the bush grow, and how many fruit can I expect from each ?

Isn't there a climbing type courgettes (also from T&M) unless you must have patty pan types? I think the climbing ones are also very expensive (similar price to the all-female F1 hybrids of cucumbers). Some of us are growing in pots. Sorry not much help.

Certainly is - it's called Black Forest and yes they are expensive seeds at I think £2.99 for four seeds but I tried them last year having failed every year to get any courgettes at all and we had a fantastic crop.

Well worth a try, I already have my packet ready for this year.

I haven't grow any of the scallop type so not sure what will they taste like but must say, they are very attractive .
I have great success with the Korean summer squash (hybrid green BT) but unfortunately it is a vine type (but the vine was not massive, the squash has buttery and sweet taste with fine texture).
If you are only into bush type, try some Lebanese white bush marrow, it is very productive plus very tasty ( SueA grown it before, If I am not mistaken).
Other good eating bush summer squash will be : straighneck & crockneck summer squash.
I am sure there are many more good eating bush squash worth to try which you will be hearing from other grapes.Happy growing .

Don't forget with T&M that as soon as you tip your seed order over £10 you qualify for a free pack of seeds - the most expensive in your selections! The most expensive packets being £7.99 for things like cucumber carmen f1 and a geranium pack with 5x4 seeds per pack - there are probably others.

I did several 'short' orders late last year and was able to more or less get £40 worth for £20-ish (incl p&p).

Don't be afraid to split your orders to your own best advantage - so far they've always delivered - and i shall continue to exploit this quite valid way of ordering until they say I must stop or stop allowing me to buy from them!

It was a good way to try a few exotics at minimal financial risk -and who knows even I might be able to get them to grow!
