Tried early cuc sowing last year and it's something I'm not going to bother repeating this year as they were a pain to keep healthy while the weather warmed up enough to put them in our cold greenhouse. Won't be sowing until late March and then will probably sow a couple of lemon cucs and a couple of what ever greenhouse straight variety I've got so that I can grow one of each which if the last couple of years are anything to go by will give me loads for us plus a few to give away at work.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I read that cucumbers are really difficult to start yourself (loads of complicated stuff about certain temperatures that never fluctuate etc). Is this not true?
I bought a couple of plants from a garden centre last year because I was put off having a go myself.

Never had any problems with germination although they can be rot after they've sprouted if you let the soil get too soggy. I always make sure I water from below to reduce the chance of this happening
