    Dear All,

I've got one shady bed that doesn't get much sun - any ideas on what to put in there? I had courgettes and outdoor cucumbers last year, and the courgettes didn't do very well at all (lucky I had another courgette plant in a sunny spot which kept me stocked up!)

    thanks,

Spinach and chard will do well in a shady bed. I have loads of lovely spinach growing in shade very happily. Lack of direct sun stops them bolting.

thanks for the advice - I think I will put some lettuce in there. What about fennel? I put my fennel in the sun last year and a lot of it bolted.
