  • Cauliflower seedlings?

Anyone have a picture of what they should look like?

Most of mine look too tall, I think they may have been left without light too long after germinating.

If you start them off early, you must give them as much light as you possibly can. My seedlings get put out everyday and brought indoors when night falls but it's a hassle I can afford. BTW my cauli were only sowed last Wed and so far only 1 seed has germinated so can't comment on them yet, sorry. Beginning to think I've had duff cauli seeds from T&M as they were given free.

Dan, how tall are they? Can you take a photo?

If they are flopping over you are going to struggle to keep them growing upright.

Brassica seedlings don't mind being "dropped down" when they are potted or planted up, but yours may not get to that point if they are too etiolated.

They germinate so quickly I would be tempted to sow again and put them somewhere cooler and lighter.

Can't take a photo at the moment.

Would say they're up to about three inches tall most of them. They're in a tray with a bunch of other stuff which didn't germinate so quickly so I left them on top of the fridge for a little bit for the others to catch up. I didn't know they would emerge and grow so quickly.

They're all very upright, no sign of collapse at the moment.

3 inches tall... with how many leaves?

            Three.

There's a few shorter ones amongst them that have the same amount of leaves which is why I'm wondering if the tall ones are too tall.

Next time I'll cut the seed trays so I can seperate varieties for ones that germinate quicker.

They sound a bit tall, but I think perhaps you should wait and see.

You could sow a few more now just in case.

Bloomin' seeds always germinate quickly when you are least expecting it... it's a kind of s*d's law for the gardener

Yeah, having only grown a limited amount of stuff before I just assumed they'd take a week or so like other stuff, we live and learn, plenty more seeds in the packet!
