  • Floridity F1 tomato

I am growing this as one of my "trial" crops this year as my previous small plum tomato "tropical ruby" was a bit thick skinned for my liking.

Has anybody else tried it before?

The RHS gave it an AGM in 2004 and Medwyn Williams raves about it, is it as good as they say?

Sorry, not tried it before but I also bought some seed for this season after having read good things.

Let's hope someone here has grown it...

Never tried it PW, but the name reminds me of the 'Floradix' tonic/medicine stuff that Mam used to shove down me throat when I was little.... Bleurgh
Hope it tastes much nicer than that!

Wot, thick skinned? You should say coz you're a fan of Sungold, aren't you? I have a problem with Sungold being a bit thin skinned and I thought I had no grounds for complaining over skin but now I feel it's a legitimate tomato attribute for seeking personal preference. I guess because it's still a plum (despite being cherry sized), it forgot to leave the parent's skin gene behind .

Sungold certainly can split if left on the vine too long, the tropical ruby last year were exceptionally thick skinned but not as bad the year before, perhaps they need more heat.

Floridity is one of ours (Tozer Seeds) and according to my colleague is very nice. I have to say i've not tasted it myself yet but its also one of my 'home trial' varieties this year (i'm going to be lacking greenhouse space this year!!)

Pics attached from our trials at work. They're sort of plum bullet shaped!!
