  • what's eating my broccoli?

or calabrese even. put in some small plants a week or so ago, and forgot to put slug pellets down the first couple of nights, hence a certain amount of damage. so have put some down, and renewed them the day before yesterday. just went out, lots of slime and dead slugs and snails - and also every leaf of the calabrese looks as if it has been bitten in a sort of semicircular pattern, right back to the stalk!!!! what is it? what do I do?

sounds to me they had a last supper then snuffed it its a bit early for sawfly and caterpillars so unless the birds have been pecking at it its probably the slugs

It's slugs, they attack anything, one time they did a full onslaught on my pet duck. It was carnage. It was like 'Platoon' but with a duck and slugs...
      Best wishes

FVV, they could have been sleeping in the soil around the base of the plants before you put the slug pellets down, come out for a meal & then munched on the pellets & popped their clogs!
Good grief Andrew- they didn't eat your duck did they?
