*giggles* no probably not PC, but illustrates your point well!

That would be a good idea - get them off the ground, which is always the coldest bit!

btw, sorry to hear you're immobilised atm - I was just throwing ideas at the wall to see if any would stick

Have you checked your greenhouse temperature Sarz? I was surprised here the other week when it got to -7 overnight outdoors but the greenhouse stayed above freezing the whole time with no heating.

PS - how is the ankle doing and how long till you are likely to be walking again?

It's usually a couple of degrees warmer in the greenhouse than outside. It depends whether we've had sunshine in the day or not, if we have and the flag stones warm up then it's bit warmer overnight. Worst case scenario is it going to minus 2 or further, as that usually means 0 degrees inside. I read what happened to somebody else's spuds which got frozzed (brown mush), can't afford that

I was a bit naughty saying I can't walk, I can get around, but I can't carry anything that isn't in a backpack with having my hands busy with crutches. So apologies for over-dramatisation Eyren
Shirley, having an Xray on Thursday, fingers tightly crossed that everything has stayed put since pin removal, then I might be able to start strengthening it. It certainly doesn't feel to have moved/gone wrong

              Thanks lottie dolly
Selfraising has kindly researched the minimum temperature required, and apparently it is 4°c, so I think they'd better stay in doors for a few days as we've got -2° one night and -3° the next. I'll have to commandeer the dining table OH won't like it but thirty quid's worth of seed spuds are worth a bit of inconvenience
