It's been raining here for the past week with only Sunday being sunny. I've been out everyday with my raincoat on - I don't notice the rain after a while and just get on with things and if the rain gets really heavy I duck into the greenhouse for cover and do some re-potting. I've had tons of structural work to do putting paths down and putting up supports and general tidying to do, so nothing was going to stop me - not even the rain.
It's quite funny though, as my neighbour is very competitive and if he sees me out in the garden he feels compelled to come out and do something, or show off etc...I don't think he likes the rain though, as I was able to garden all alone with no distraction and boasting from over the fence...he sees everything as a competition to have the biggest and the best and the quickest etc - it drives me CRAZY!
It's really chucked it down here all day! Did the sensible thing and retired to my sewing room for the day! The poor chooks are fed up as it has been far to wet to allow them out (they are only allowed out late afternoon) as they would then be damp all night!
Lawn is growing like blazes as are all my cabbage, cauliflower and brocooli seedlings. Lettuce doing well too! Moved my aubergines and celery into the green house (they were out in the garden in pots) and they seem to have put on a bit of growth.
Believe it is going to be dry here overnight! Now what use is that - bet it will be raining again by tomorrow morning!
By the way - welcome Blueberry - didn't mean to put you at the end of this reply! Enjoy the vine
We have had absolutely torrential rain here today - non stop. The gardens around me (mine included) had 2 inches of standing water. Popped to the shops and when I got back found water dripping from the kitchen roof onto the kitchen floor. Had to get towels to mop up the water and a bucket to catch the drops. Luckily once the heaviest of the rain subsided, it stopped but it gave me quite a stir. The "Under Gardener" was a bit panic stricken when I rang and told him but he has now managed to sort out the problem - thankfully!
I to have been gardening in the rain or rather renovating my paths. I spent two hours shovelling gravel in the rain. Usually have to wash gravel after applying but the rain did it for me. Got extremely wet couldn't see much as my glasses kept filling up with water. However enjoyed myself then went in doors and watched chelsea interactive. Great.
all the best

I garden no matter what, came in from pouring rain last night at 23:05 and out again at 06:00. Have to take it when I can as work FT in day but best bits of the day are those dedicated to veg
