  • To all Hardy kiwi lovers

I accidentally found this e seeds (EXOTIC AND UNUSUAL VINE SEEDS FROM AROUND THE WORLD), they sell not just Issai hardy kiwi but also purple kiwi and normal kiwi seeds this means we can grow them from seeds grapes .
I have germinated my Actinidia Melandra seeds succesfully, I am soooo happy .

Check this one out : KIWIFRUIT CD-ROM
Ignore the language please, it is a dutch web. Have a look at each Kiwi descriptions at the left side icon.

Only recognised the Kiwi and Passion flowers as edible ones. It's somewhat handy to buy the Issai Kiwi seeds as they sound like a very worthwhile fruit bush/vine to have. I think it's very easy to get hold of the Passion flower seeds though, yes? Errr...purple kiwi, says it tart.

Wow! Cheers for that Momol, I'll have to give it a try, but I've never been very lucky getting my kiwi plants to fruit.

I'm hoping this year will be better as they're next to a sunny wall, but any tips you've got would be very gratefully received!

Yes you have to Jeannine but it does takes very long to germinates them (5to 6.5 weeks) and they are really tiny !

Have a look here for all kind of kiwis, very exciting! but don't mind about the language.

Sorry forget to answer the kiwi thingy.
We grow 3 vines of hardy kiwi (Issai type) they are at south facing corner (protected from strong wind). We did built some wire against the garage wall for them to climb and they have produce heavily in their first year (last year), but we only got to pick over 0.5 to 1 kg per vine (the black birds have been eating them).
I just germinated the purple ones too, love to see it and looking forward to test the fruit (3 years from now).
