    Hi All (its me again the miverin 1)

    because i dont know what i'am doing and posibly a little dim....ive bought some rhubarb just looks like a block of wood tho or part of the root should i plant this now and cover it up & try and force it i know possibly i will take a long time to establish it self to join the other members of a possible fruit bed in the lottie............

    Plant it in a well manured soil and leave it for a year. Dont force it for the first year, and dont take any cuttings from it, just let it grow. Next year you can force but I would personally leave that for the third year.
    I also grow mine in a contained bed, each one in a big pot as it does spread fairly well.

        But if you have a shady spot you may as well stick it there as it's one of the few things which enjoy these conditions.
        Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

          just plant them with the 'roundy bobbly' bit showing slightly & loads of manure, sit back and be very patient but when you start cropping in a couple of years it'll be worth it

            i have mine in a old coal bunker in the shade half filled with compost and it grows lovly pitty i carnt stand the stuff

              Mines just about poking through, its 3 yrs since I planted it and I never really do much with it just put manure on it once a year in autumn

                        wine, jam, trifle, chutney, rhubarb bread and butter pudding.....
                        My rhubarb is ready to eat!!!!!
                        can't wait - love it with porridge or youhurt for breakfast!

                              Planted my "blocks of wood" some weeks ago now (mother-in-law bought them for me), and she keeps asking if anything is growing yet. No sign of anything (rhubarb) growing yet.
