Last Wednesday finally got around to planting up some of the seeds which came with June's issue of GYO. Went out this morning (it's stopped raining and the sun is shining!) and bless me if there isn't a neat line of little seedlings! Dead chuffed!

I am planning to do mine this weekend - if it stops raining! The wet weather seems to have sped everything up doesn't it? Apart from some drowing though!

Seedlings are all much tougher than we think. Just look at the weeds.

              Ya boo hiss,
My Raab now about 2 inches high. These seeds germinated like lightening and have resisted all this recent wonderful rain and wind!!

My Raab is just starting to get true leaves. It came up in about three days.

Planted mine about two weeks ago and despite the horrid weather here they are looking ok. They are about an inch and a half high and sitting on the garden bench whilst the slugs attack my nearby potatoes, bet they have got their beady little eyes on them!

I am in Aberdeenshire- Is that the furthest North? I planted mine a couple of weeks ago and they are several inches high already- I have thinned them out, and there were horrible little vine weevils munching away at the bottom of them, so had to buy nematodes, which will take 2-3 wks to work. Have picked off all the grubs now. The thinnings take very readily and have passed them on to other gardening friends. I believe they are eaten as a sort of cross between spring greens and broccoli, so don't wait until they flower, but catch them just before. I haven't tried them before, but they seem very vigourous and hardy. Excellent!

Glad to hear that everyone's Raab is doing well - assuming the weather is going to hold out, I hope to get mine planted tomorrow!

Sorry P999, you're not the furthest north. JennieAtkinson is in Shetland so you're a bit short of it, but reckon you're at least in the top 3. Happy gardening.

Hullo Sweetpea! Welcome on board! Have you managed to get your Raab planted yet? I am hoping to get up enough energy to pootle out and sow another line of Raab. The sun sort of shining here and been dry overnight!
