  • leggy seedlings

I read a bit in GYO about a chap saying he burried all the sedling down to true leaves and then that developed an excellent root system, giving the plants a head start. this was music to myears as I had over-cooked my seedlings and they were all 3-4 inches long - cabbages, brussels, marjoram etc. Thinking this might work to save the crop I transplanted them and burie them to their necks. Wow, they're shooting up and seem to be loving it. A few wilted and went but overall the success was fab, so if you have leggy (probably useless) seedlings, consider giving them the foreign legion treatment and bury to necks

Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn't know that so it goes on flying anyway.

You've got it Adam. I always plant right up to the seed leaves and never had a problem.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

This is exactly the advice I was given after mistakenly putting my seeds in the heated propagator. Seedlings look stronger already.

I do this with all my seedlings, especially if leggy.Only recently read somewhere, you not supposed to do this with brassicas.Perhaps this is why I seem to get probs with this crop when started from seed, but can grow ok from plug plants.Does anyone know if this is right?

Ah good plan! Never thought of that!!! Don't actually have anything else to transplant though!
